What is Living grief: living change all about?
I’ve been carrying an unexplained obsession with death for along time now.
It’s been a personal journey that’s seen me traverse through time. It started with my own concern and fear of my own death, to fear for the future of the planet, to recognising the weight of unprocessed grief through generations of my family.
It’s seen me tracking innovations in the death industry, attended death cafes, learning and training in grief tending, reading and writing and pondering different framings for how we talk about these taboo topics. Noticing the contrast of having been ‘setting up’ and ‘starting’ lots of social change collaborations - and paying very little attention to the ‘endings’ part of the change.
This obsession with death only got louder as the COVID-19 pandemic swept the world. I’m now tired of keeping these notes, observations, links, and anecdotes for myself. I’ve been looking for ways to share my observations, musings and expand this much needed conversation. I’m finally feeling brave enough to share some of these in the open so i’m starting this newsletter as a space to share, hopefully monthly - but its see.
Today I’m seeing death and grief as an inevitable part of the process of being alive that is too often overlook and is a hugely powerful force.
I’m seeing this is part of a contribution to a much needed shift in how we collectively shift the culture, practices and narratives around grief, death and endings. A space for those actively into this topic already, as well as those curious to learn more and perhaps even for those a little trepidatious about what you might uncover.
Looking forward to venturing with you,
